Sebastian graduated from Flinders University of South Australia during which he spent much of his clinical training time in the Northern Territory. He then worked as a junior doctor in Melbourne at The Alfred before moving to Far North Queensland for training in anaesthesia. He returned to Melbourne for subspecialist experience in paediatric anaesthesia at the Royal Children’s Hospital and has continued on there as a Staff Specialist Anaesthetist.

Sebastian commenced private practice with Albert Street Anaesthetic Group in 2018 and maintains public appointments at both the Royal Children’s Hospital and Eastern Health. He is accredited at numerous private facilities around Melbourne as well as the Epworth Health, Cabrini Health and Ramsay Health Care networks.

Sebastian is interested in the neurobiology of consciousness and anaesthesia. He is currently completing a PhD through the University of Melbourne investigating the use of electroencephalography (EEG) to measure anaesthesia in newborns.

Sebastian also enjoys teaching. He lectures at the exam preparation courses run by the
Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) and volunteers as an instructor on various courses, including Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS) and Emergency Trauma Management Course (ETM Course).

Sebastian is an active participant in the Continuing Professional Development Program of ANZCA and is a member of the Australian Society of Anaesthetists (ASA), and Society for Paediatric Anaesthesia in New Zealand and Australia (SPANZA).
