After graduating with Honours from Monash Uni in 2006, Rachel initially planned to become a Paediatrician before finding her true calling in Anaesthesia – although caring for children is still her passion. She trained in Anaesthesia at Monash Health and completed her fellowship in Paediatric Anaesthesia at the Royal Children’s Hospital in 2015, including a year in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit. She has previously worked as a Staff Specialist at Western Health and Monash Health, caring for all surgical subspecialty patients, including complex obstetrics. Rachel is now a full time Staff Specialist at the Royal Children’s Hospital. Although she still regularly anaesthetises for all surgical subspecialties, her main clinical interests are total intravenous anaesthesia, anaesthesia for ear, nose & throat surgery (particularly complex neonatal airway surgery), anaesthesia and major haemorrhage, and the welfare and wellbeing of anaesthetic staff and trainees.
Outside of work, Rachel is a crazy cyclist and besotted mother who can usually be found halfway up a mountain.
