Dr Kym Saunders

Joined Albert St Anaesthetic Group in 2013. Director since 2019.

On completing her medical degree Dr Saunders undertook her intern year and first 2 resident years at Geelong Hospital.  She completed her anaesthetic training throughout Melbourne and Geelong working at The Alfred, and Monash Medical Centre and Geelong.  She was actively involved in the Victorian Trainee Committee for 4 years of her training and was Chair of this committee in 2012.  She was also the trainee representative on the Curriculim Redesign Steering Group of ANZCA in helping develop the New Trainee Curriculum which began in 2013.

Her Fellowship year was spent at The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne where she obtained further specialisation as a paediatric anaesthetist.  She has accreditation as a VMO at Cabrini, Epworth, St Vincent’s, St John of God, Ramsay Health and Healthscope hospitals. 

Dr Saunders is an active and passionate participant in volunteer work providing anaesthesia for the developing world and underprivileged children through the Children’s First Foundation, Operation Smile, and has completed trips including the Solomon Islands through the Royal College of Surgeons in conjunction with the Australian government.

Her main interests are to provide anaesthesia for Paediatric surgery, also surgery in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, ENT, plastics, urology and orthopaedics. 

Outside of work Dr Saunders is a keen long distance runner, and loves the outdoors and anything involving water- surfing, scuba diving, sailing.
