Amit graduated from medical school at the University of Birmingham, UK in 2005. He completed basic surgical training, becoming a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh in 2010. Amit then found his true calling in anaesthesia, completing specialist training with qualifications from the Royal College of Anaesthetists, UK and further training in Regional Anaesthesia.
Amit relocated to Australia in 2015 where he commenced work at the Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) with fellowships in neuroanaesthesia and trauma. Since 2017 he has been employed as a specialist at RMH, one of Melbourne’s busiest major trauma centres.
Amit enjoys teaching, mentoring trainee anaesthetists and is Supervisor for Anaesthetic Residents at RMH. He has a specialist interest in Malignant Hyperthermia and is involved in diagnosis and management of patients through the Malignant Hyperthermia Diagnostic Unit at the RMH.
Amit participates in the annual Continued Professional Development program through the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA). He is also a member of The Malignant Hyperthermia Australia and New Zealand group (MHANZ), European Malignant Hyperthermia Group (EMHG), American Society of Regional Anaesthesia (ASRA), and Australian Society of Anaesthetists (ASA).
Amit has a calm nature and professional demeanour. He is a proud husband and father of two young children and enjoys keeping fit and healthy.
